FISA hosted this important webinar, part of the RACE + DISABILITY series, focused on cycles of trauma in schools and how the increased presence of police has shaped the experience of students of color and students with disabilities. Our presenters were fantastic: Dr. Claire Cohen, child psychiatrist discussed the psychiatric trauma that students of color face when police are present in schools. West Resendes, from the American Civil Liberties Union, showcased the Disability Rights project, which aims to dismantle the school-to-prison pipeline and advocates for additional school-based support.
