Heidi Latsky Dancers perfomed Saturday to a sold out house at August Wilson Center for African-American Culture. It was the culmination of a week’s worth of outreach activities, including:
- A public forum at Rodef Shalom Congregation
- Master classes at Point Park University, Slippery Rock University and the Center for Theater Arts in Mount Lebanon
GIMP did what we hoped it would do, which is to challenge notions and attitudes about people with disabilities. From the provocative title (which generated its own controversy) to the innovative and powerful choreography, Heidi Latsky capitalized on the fact that people are drawn to look, sometimes stare, at people with disabilities – and used the power of movement and music to help us all really SEE.
