FISA Foundation Awards over $750,000 in Grants

In November, FISA Foundation’s board awarded $788,321 in grant funding to improve the lives of women, girls, and people with disabilities in southwestern Pennsylvania.

  • Achieva – Continued support for advocacy to improve access to health care and dental care for people with disabilities
  • Advisory Board on Autism and Related Disorders (ABOARD) – Support for marketing and increasing capacity to serve more families of children with autism
  • Allegheny Valley School – Support for creating a program to integrate sensory experiences into dental care for consumers with complex intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Best Buddies Pennsylvania – Continued support to foster friendships among students with intellectual disabilities and their non-disabled peers in six Allegheny County high schools
  • Blind and Visual Rehabilitation Services of Pittsburgh – Support for the Employment Opportunities Program for youth with complex disabilities
  • Center for Theater Arts – For continued support of musical theater classes and performances for adults with disabilities
  • The Children’s Home of Pittsburgh – Support for Child’s Way, a program
    to provide childcare for medically fragile infants and children with disabilities
  • The Children’s Institute – Support for a capital campaign to renovate the grounds to provide accessible recreation for children with disabilities
  • Consumer Health Coalition – Support for Health Committee for People with Disabilities and its consumer-led agenda to identify and eliminate barriers to quality, affordable health care
  • Holy Family Institute – Support for the SNAP for Girls Program, to prevent middle school girls from becoming involved with the justice system
  • McGuire Memorial Foundation – Support for a capital campaign to renovate the intermediate care facility to prove a more home-like environment for people with complex disabilities
  • Pennsylvania Elks Major Projects, Inc. – General operating support for the  Home Service Program, providing free in-home support and advocacy services to  people with disabilities
  • Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence – Support for the planning stage of a regional initiative to prevent domestic violence in southwestern Pennsylvania
  • Pennsylvania Health Law Project – Support for advocacy and education efforts to improve access to healthcare for people with disabilities
  • THE PROGRAM for Offenders, Inc. – General operating support for
    services to female offenders who are in the residential alternative to
    incarceration program
  • Rankin Christian Center – Support for after school empowerment programming for middle school girls in Rankin
  • UCP/CLASS – Support for the renovation of an expansion office to improve coordination of services to people with disabilities
  • Victim Outreach Intervention Center – Strategic planning and general   operating support for services to victims of domestic and sexual violence
