The federal government is responsible for establishing rules and regulations for what healthcare providers must do to be accessible under the Americans with Disabilities Act. The Department of Justice (DOJ) is working on new, more specific rules and regulations to address access barriers related to medical and diagnostic equipment (MDE) in public healthcare facilities. The DOJ is asking for feedback about the new proposed rule. You can read a fact sheet about the proposal here.
