Greetings!
We’re pleased to announce the next steps in the discussion about bringing Lyn Brown’s work to our region – a half-day session on June 1 at Chatham University (details below). You’re receiving this email because you attended an initial meeting at Chatham in March or you couldn’t make it but expressed an interest in being involved in the effort.
In the initial meeting, participants discussed Lyn’s work at Hardy Girls, Healthy Women in general terms and established that there is interest in the possibility of implementing the model here as a potential partnership between Chatham and interested girl-serving agencies. Since the meeting we did confirm that the curriculum was developed with participation from girls in Maine and in New York City (including diversity in race, economics, and urban/rural communities). There is a great deal of flexibility in implementing the curriculum. Participants expressed specific interest in hearing more directly from Lyn and her colleagues at Hardy Girls, Healthy Women and learning more about the grounding behind their activism. Many of you also wanted to review the curriculum and materials before deciding whether this was a good fit for your agency.
