FISA Foundation Hires Anne Mulgrave as Program Officer

PITTSBURGH, PA (September 7, 2010) – FISA Foundation appointed Anne Mulgrave, J.D. to the position of Program Officer. In this capacity, Anne will play a critical role in advancing the Foundation’s mission in overseeing grant proposals and providing technical assistance to grantees, convening discussions to address key issues and coordinating communications and special projects for the Foundation.

Growing up with a younger brother with Down Syndrome and parents who were committed advocates for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities fuels Anne’s passion for FISA’s mission to improve the lives of people with disabilities.

Prior to joining the FISA Foundation, Anne served as a Deputy Attorney General in the Environmental Crimes Section for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Office of the Attorney General, a litigation associate with Babst, Calland, Clements and Zomnir, P.C. and as a law clerk for the Hon. Maurice B. Cohill Jr.

She is also active in her community, working as a volunteer for the Montessori Children’s Community in Sewickley, PA. Anne has also served on the Board of Directors at the Midwife Center For Birth and Women’s Health in Pittsburgh and was a La Leche League Leader for eight years.

Anne is currently a student at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public and International Affairs, expecting to finish in December of 2010. She earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Pittsburgh, School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Michigan.

Anne’s family includes her two children, Jasper (10) and Eleanor (7), her husband Steve Schlick, her mother Margaret Mulgrave, and her brother David Mulgrave, a four-time International Special Olympian.

FISA Board Member, Bernadette Smith, Named as Finalist for 2010 Athena Award

The Allegheny Conference announced today that six of the Pittsburgh region’s prominent women leaders have been named 2010 Greater Pittsburgh ATHENA Award finalists. They will be recognized for their professional excellence, contributions to the community and mentorship of other women at the 20th Anniversary ATHENA Award Program Luncheon, presented by the Allegheny Conference on Community Development on Monday, September 20, at the Westin Convention Center Hotel. There, one finalist will become the 2010 ATHENA Award recipient.

The 2010 finalists, selected among 39 impressive nominees, compose a varied and distinguished group; each woman using her leadership to create professional excellence and positive regional impact. They are:

• Honorable Cathy Bissoon, U.S. Magistrate Judge, U.S. District Court of the Western District of Pennsylvania

• Eva Tansky Blum, Senior Vice President & Director of Community Affairs, PNC Bank; Chair & President, The PNC Foundation
